Social psychoanalysis: the influence of the collective unconscious on social relations

Abstract
This article examines how the collective unconscious, grounded in Jung, shapes beliefs, values, and behaviors in social relations. Drawing on a recent narrative review, it discusses the role of archetypes and symbols across culture, media, and institutions, highlighting effects on public opinion, stereotypes, and social hierarchies. It also notes intergenerational transmission of trauma and media devices that sustain hegemonic narratives. The paper contributes a critical reading of psychic mechanisms within political and cultural processes while acknowledging methodological gaps for practical interventions and the need for empirical protocols. It concludes that social psychoanalysis supports the deconstruction of exclusionary patterns and the design of strategies for more equitable narratives.
