Author Guidelines

These guidelines follow the Interapia Editorial Policy (in Portuguese), in force from 2026, which fully replaces all previous guidance. In case of conflict with any other text, the Editorial Policy prevails.

1. Frequency and submission

  • Published three times a year (every four months): April (no. 1), August (no. 2) and December (no. 3).
  • Continuous submission, closing 60 days before each issue.
  • One volume per calendar year, numbered in sequence since 2023.
  • Language: Portuguese, with title, abstract and keywords also in English.
  • Open access, with no embargo, from the date of publication.

2. Sections and length

Length is counted in words, excluding references, tables and captions.

Editorial800–1,500 words2,000Not applicable

Work exceeding 8,000 words whose argument cannot be shortened without loss of content is published in sequential parts, each within the limit, with its own subtitle, part number and explicit cross-references. The division is agreed with the author before acceptance.

3. Required structure

  • Title in Portuguese and English.
  • Abstract in Portuguese and English, 100 to 250 words each.
  • Three to five keywords in each language.
  • Body text with numbered sections and a reference list.
  • Figures, charts and tables numbered in their own sequence, with caption (above tables, below figures) and source. Third-party material requires documented permission.
  • References follow ABNT NBR 6023. APA is no longer accepted from 2026; manuscripts already submitted in APA are converted by the editorial team.

4. Authorship

  • Up to four authors per manuscript.
  • Required for each author: full name, institutional affiliation and contact e-mail.
  • ORCID is mandatory for submissions from 2026.
  • Author order is defined by the authors themselves and declared at submission.
  • Changes to authorship only before acceptance, with the consent of all authors.

5. Peer review

Submissions are screened by the editorial committee (fit with scope, compliance with the guidelines and originality). Once screened, they undergo double-blind peer review by at least two reviewers external to the authors' institution. Possible outcomes are acceptance, acceptance conditional on revisions, and reasoned rejection. The target time from submission to first decision is sixty days. Divergent reports are resolved by a third reviewer. Book reviews and editorials are not peer reviewed, and this is stated on the item's page.

6. Copyright and licence

Authors retain the rights to their work and grant the journal the right of first publication. All content is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0).

7. Fees

The journal charges a publication fee of R$ 390.00, due only after acceptance through peer review. There is no submission fee: authors whose work is rejected pay nothing. The fee covers only the journal's operating costs (hosting and maintenance of the editorial system, persistent identifier registration, typesetting, digital preservation and editorial support).

Waivers. The fee is fully waived, upon justified request, for: authors without paid institutional affiliation; undergraduate or graduate students without a scholarship; authors living in low-income countries according to the World Bank classification; and declared financial hardship. Requests are sent to the editorial team after acceptance, do not influence the decision and are not disclosed to reviewers.

8. Ethics and integrity

  • The journal follows COPE guidelines. A signed statement of responsibility and originality is required, as is ethics committee approval for research with human participants and protection of patient confidentiality in clinical reports.
  • Conflicts of interest are declared by authors and reviewers. Editorial board members who submit work are excluded from every stage of its evaluation, and this is recorded on the article page.
  • Artificial intelligence: generative AI tools cannot be listed as authors. Their use in writing, translation, data analysis or image production must be declared, stating what was assisted. Authors are fully responsible for the content, the accuracy of quotations and the existence of the references. From v. 5 (2027) on, every submission must include a statement on the use of AI, including a statement of non-use, which is published with the article. Up to v. 4 the journal did not require it: archive articles state that the journal holds no author statement.
  • Quotations: direct quotations require the exact location in the source, including page. The editorial team spot-checks direct quotations in every accepted manuscript; quotations whose source cannot be verified are paraphrased or removed. Attributing a statement to an identifiable author without a verifiable source is grounds for rejection.

9. Identifiers and preservation

The journal will register DOIs for all articles once its Crossref membership is complete. Until then, no provisional identifier is displayed as if it were valid. Every published article has a downloadable PDF typeset in the journal's layout.
